Parade of Giveaways

So, I'm excited to participate in the Parade of Giveaways this year.

First, I love to do food storage and be prepared.I've been canning like crazy and building up my food storage - especially now - to get ready for winter.

Do you use flaxseed? Do you know what to do with it? Since it is my prize, I thought I'd tell you a little bit about it. This is a 1.5 pound bag of heart healthy golden flaxseed. Flaxseed is full of good Omega-3 fats and provides good amounts of fiber to your diet. Everyone needs more fiber in their diet, right? It is best to eat flaxseed when freshly ground - so your body can absorb the maximum amount of nutrients available from the flax.

This golden flaxseed is an Idaho Preferred product and is a great variety for baking. I add it to almost everything I bake: cookies, breads, muffins, cakes. It even is a great substititue for eggs in your baking recipes. You only need to take 3 Tablespoons cold water and 1 Tablespoon ground flaxseed and whip them together. Allow this mixture to sit until a little slimy (about 1 minute) and you have a great replacement for 1 egg.
Just remember to grind your flaxseed in a spice grinder or a coffee grinder - something that can handle oily seeds. A flour mill is usually not able to handle flaxseed.

RULES TO ENTER THE PARADE OF GIVEAWAYS PRIZE OF FLAXSEED
1 - You must live in the US. I will not ship out of the USA.
2 - Please leave a useful comment on this blog post about my website: www.HiStakes-Spelt.com or about flaxseed or even food storage. Easy, right?  =)
(Mostly, let me know you are interested in entering the parade of giveaways)

Remember all giveaways will run September 1st - September 30th and the flaxseed winner will be announced on October 1st on this blog. Happy blogging and good luck!

Until next time!

I loved learning about Spelt. I have never heard about it before. I have heard so much about Flax lately but I've never tried it. This would be the perfect opportunity. I'm trying to feed my family a little healthier.

I've had flaxseed before, but I've never cooked with it myself. I look forward to trying it!

I love using flax seed in homemade bread and muffins. It just adds that extra something because of the texture. I also love that it's a heart healthy additive!

I have been reading on this but can't share it with my family. They don't like trying new things. I have to sneak anything new into their food. I bet this would help my autistic son with getting fiber into him.

I am SO EXCITED about the information you have on the Classic Universal Bosch! I love love love my Bosch. My son has life threatening food allergies and while it's been challenging, it's been so fun to learn to do all these healthy things and to get excited about being self sufficient. My Bosch and wheat grinder have become my best friends, as it's cheaper for me to make my own bread, and I have to make everything else from scratch.

I also loved your egg replacement information. One of his allergies is to eggs, so we've been eggless (and milkless, soyless, peanutless, MSGless) for over a year now.

I would also love to be entered into your drawing!

Thank you . . these giveaways are awesome.

Thanks for the opportunity to win this.
I have used flaxseed in baking bread, with whole wheat, oats, and other combinations of grain. I usually grind it and add it with the flour. It adds a nutty deep flavor alond with the nutrition.
For one loaf of bread I usually add about 1/2 c ground seed.

Flax is fabulous stuff: we use it in cereals, breads, muffins, bumpy smoothies, and anything else we can get away with. It is one of the best and tastiest ways of making everyday foods extra healthy with lots of fiber. We do all we can to improve our diet, and I'm happy to toot my horn about it!

I am just beginning to use flax in my baking. I like to add it to bax pancake mix to add fiber and nutrition. I would love to have some to experiment with and learn more about it!

I'm new to Flax but a huge fan of food storage. I know the big box stores are helpful, but my secret weapon this month was Smith's Caselot sale. I saved around 45% on my food storage purchases. And I didn't have to go crazy with coupons. I just bought at the right time.

Thanks for letting me enter your drawing!

I love all of the spelt recipes. I've heard so much about the product, but have never tried it. I've also found that it is a great enhancement when making your own dog treats. Flax seed is very good for dogs - especially for those who feed only raw or natural products to their canine friends. :) Thanks so much for your fantastic website!

I am also interested in entering the parade of giveaways.

I love flaxseeds. I started taking them when I found out I have osteoporosis at age 30. Not cool. But the elements in flax help strengthen bones. One of my cousins in Canada also told me they put flax in their cement to create their roads because it is strong. I found that very interesting!
